The Eighth “ Chaobao Cup” Children Go Championship is hosted by Chaozhou Go Association towelcome the Olympics and celebrate "Children’s Day". It was held successfully in ChaozhouGymnasium from May 31st to June 1^st.  Nearly 1100 children Go players from two countries and two districts of Chaozhou, with black and white pieces in their hands, by their own wisdomcreate the best situation by the fewest steps. After 1 to 9 round competitions during those two days, Ding Jie from Fengxi Primary School and Lin Yin from Chaozhou Experimental Primary School gained the first prizes of Individual Group and Girl Group of senior grade respectively. Chen Guoxi from Chaozhou Miande Primary School and Chen Shuangyu from Chaozhou Chengnan Primary School won the first prizes of Individual Group and Girl Group of junior graderespectively. Zhong Xinye from Raoping Kindergarten and Wei Yuanzi from Chaozhou Sports Kindergarten were awarded the first prize of Individual Group and Girl Group of infant group respectively. Chaozhou Miande Kindergarten Go Team with large scale won the groupchampionship of Infant Group while Chaozhou Chengnan Primary school won the teamchampionship of Primary School Group.

 

At the awards ceremony, Chaozhou government Deputy Secretary General Chen Xiaoli gave  speech at the awards ceremony. Secretary General of Chaozhou Municipal Committee and Standing Committee Member Chen Yang, Chaozhou Government Deputy Secretary General Chen Xiaoli and related leaders of Chaozhou Sports Bureau, President Xie Shuzhong of Chaozhou GoAssociation and leaders of "Chaobao" attended the ceremony on the afternoon of June 1^st and gave the awards to the winning players.

 

According to the introduction of Chaozhou Go Association President Xie Shuzhong , thischampionship is held as the big training before Guangdong Go Championship in July this year.Chaozhou Go Association selected players through 9 round competitions. All the players selected would take part in Guangdong Go Championship in Shunde.

 

From the ages of players of this championship, the number of players in children’s groupaccounted for more than two thirds of the total number of players.  Furthermore, children performed very well. This showed that with the efforts of Chaozhou Go Association and the support of all sectors of the community, Chaozhou Go learning atmosphere is strengthening day by day, and good players are emerging.
